Motorized RVs

Motorhomes must meet the same Arizona minimum insurance requirements as cars:

• Bodily injury liability: $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident to help pay for injuries to others if you’re at fault for an accident.
• Property damage liability: $15,000 per accident to help pay for damage you cause to someone else’s property if you’re at fault for an accident.

Towable RVs

Arizona does not mandate insurance for towable RVs, such as travel trailers or fifth wheels. However, you should consider RV-specific insurance to protect your investment. Your auto policy’s liability coverage may extend to your trailer while it’s being towed, but it won’t cover damage to the trailer itself, its contents, or when it’s unhitched.

Other requirements: If your RV is financed, lenders often require you to carry collision coverage to help pay for damage from accidents with other vehicles or objects, and comprehensive coverage to help cover non-collision losses such as theft, vandalism, hail, fire, and storm damage.

Additionally, insurers must offer uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, which can help protect you if you’re hit by a driver with little or no insurance. You can choose to decline this coverage in writing.
